Retirement Funds in Question, Usain Bolt Reveals True Feelings on Hometown Debacle: ‘Heartbroken’

How does it feel to be defeated by cheating after dominating the sport for decades? How does it feel to receive no assistance from a country globally highlighted once by the same individual? Ask Usain Bolt, if you want to answer. The eight-time Olympic champion is experiencing these emotions right now, and the explanation leads us to a serious matter of fraud. Last year, the track and field world felt shell-shocked by the news.

In January last year, the news reports claimed that Usain Bolt had lost $12 million from his account registered with a Kingston-based investment firm. The firm, Stock and Securities Limited, could show only $12,000 remaining in Bolt’s account. However, according to Bolt’s lawyer, Linton P. Gordon, the athlete, had been dealing with the bank since 2012 and had millions deposited. Thus, the fraud came to light. But simultaneously, Jamaica’s Financial Services Commission interfered and temporarily set up its own manager at the SSL. In fact, the finance minister of Jamaica, Nigel Clarke, assured, “There is no need to panic. So, there was an expectation brewing to see a solution at the end of the tunnel.

But after a year and a half, nothing has come out positive. Rather, by the end of this month, Clark is about to leave his ministerial post to join a senior position at the International Monetary Fund. As per Bolt’s lawyer, the party has received no necessary information on the turns of the investigation from the ministry. Although, at the beginning, the authorities had announced that it would include the FBI and other notable investigative wings to catch the perpetrators. But as of now, Jean-Ann Panton is the only individual charged in the matter. She was the client relationship manager, and it was Bolt’s holding company, Welljen who filed a lawsuit against her and SSL. This makes the victims think of zero advancement in the case until now.

This is a developing story…
