Falana Refutes Bribery Allegations Threatens Legal Action

The daughter of renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, Folakemi Falana has strongly refuted the accusations of bribery, corruption, and involvement with Nigerian socialite, Bobrisky.

In a statement shared on her Instagram page on Friday, Folakemi clarified that her father had never met or spoken to Bobrisky and that her brother, Nigerian musician and activist, Falz, had only been approached by Bobrisky for financial assistance during his time in prison.

New Telegraph recalls that the allegations originated from social media critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM), who claimed in audio recordings that Femi Falana and Falz had contacted Bobrisky to arrange his release from prison, allegedly securing a 10 million naira settlement.

VeryDarkMan further accused Falz of having a homosexual relationship with Bobrisky.

In response, Folakemi expressed her frustration at the false accusations, presenting documents that demonstrated her family’s long-standing history of applying for presidential pardons free of charge since 2016.

She emphasized that anyone in Nigeria can request a presidential pardon for a convicted individual.

She wrote, “My parents and our firm, Falana & Falana, have been applying for presidential pardons for Nigerians FREE way before a lot of you were born or before you could talk.”

Folakemi condemned the allegations as baseless, noting that Bobrisky had only contacted Falz for money to stay in the VIP section of the prison, with no mention of a presidential pardon.

She expressed disbelief that some Nigerians would believe such outlandish claims, including the accusation that Falz is homosexual and in a relationship with Bobrisky.

She further stated, “Do you think my dad or Falz need Bobrisky’s money? “For what?” and vowed to take legal action against VDM for defamation.

Falz had already issued a 24-hour ultimatum to VDM, demanding that he retract his statements and remove all defamatory content.
