Competitions for fastest men and women in Pakistan start on October 8

The first-ever national competition to determine the fastest men and women in various categories will be held on October 8 at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore, it was announced on Wednesday by Brigadier (retired) Wajahat Hussain, president of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP).

The event features male and female athletes from across the country, representing various divisions, provinces and regional associations.

Brigadier Wajahat stressed the importance of the event and noted that the aim is to promote athletics and discover the fastest men and women of Pakistan. All participants are expected to arrive at the Punjab Stadium at 9:00 am on the day of the competition.

Events like these come at a crucial time for Pakistan, as the country continues to enjoy the success of Olympic hero Arshad Nadeem and Paralympic talent Haider Ali.

The success of the above mentioned institutions was accompanied by little support or backing at the infrastructural level. As a result, national athletes often had little or no access to proper training.

The hope is that by promoting such events, Pakistan will discover more athletes who can represent the country at international level and that these athletes can be better supported in the future.
