The story of Como in 1907 is as romantic as the landscape of the shores where it finds its home.

The club went bankrupt twice in the past 20 years and was auctioned in 2017. But thanks to new investments, the club got back on its feet and its fortunes changed completely.

Como, now valued at around €1 billion, are back in Serie A for the first time since 2003 and boast a star squad and manager Cesc Fabregas.

While there is still a long way to go before Como develops into one of Serie A’s powerhouses, there have been some encouraging signs in the club’s first four games of the 2024-25 season.

The 0-2-2 (WDL) record may not look all that inspiring, but the only lopsided result came at Juventus in the season opener. Como posted an expected goal difference of +1.3 in their other three games this season.

Another Champions League club, Atalanta, host Como on Monday in the only Serie A match of the day. Atalanta are a robust -200 favourite with bet365 to win the match from Monday morning.

There is no doubt that Atalanta are in a different ranking to Como, but this is a tricky point in La Dea’s programme.

They drew 0-0 with Arsenal in the Champions League last Thursday and have struggled to find their feet in the new season, with two wins and two losses in their first four games.

Como’s statistics show that they are an underrated team, while Atalanta’s statistical profile and good positioning in the schedule make them a good candidate to disappear in the short term.

THE GAME: Como (+500, Bet365)
