Wilder things have happened in the world of streaming entertainment, but it’s rare to see a superstar streamer quit at the height of their powers to make a major career change, let alone try to make it in a hyper-competitive sports league. That said, there are plenty of people who believe that Kai’s shocking claim might just have a kernel of truth to it.

As far as Dot Esports can guess, Kai Cenat Claims He’s Leaving Streaming Behind “until further notice” to grind out a basketball career is not trueMore likely, the 22-year-old star has something he’ll host before the start of the 2024 NBA season, which begins with preseason games in early October, which he’s building hype for now.

Kai’s Basketball Claim of his 46-hour Sekiro marathonstream was as follows: “I’m going to stop streaming until further notice, okay? I won’t be streaming anymore. You might be wondering what the hell am I doing? I’m finishing up phase two of my career as a professional basketball player. You might be thinking, what the fuck? But don’t laugh. I’m getting drafted in a couple days – I’m in the draft. I’m in the lottery, so don’t laugh… I’m going to be in a professional basketball league.”

He then followed up the comments on the stream with a tweet on X (formerly Twitter) who suggested something similar alongside a “farewell” to his fans.

There are some coincidences That suggests he might be playing somewhere. The star streamer’s mention of a draft doesn’t line up with the NBA’s schedule at all—the 78th NBA Draft was in June—but the NBA’s minor league, the G League, did hold its annual player intake around this time last year.

The variety streamer will be looking for something to keep his fans entertained now that he has exhausted FromSoftware’s catalog. He famously conquered Old Ring as well as Bloodborne and now he is finally defeated SekiroLike IShowSpeed, who tours other countries meeting fans and performing stunts, Kai may need something bigger and better to create more hype among his fans through 2024 and beyond.

Kai also has experience playing basketball at a high level, as the 22-year-old appeared in Shannon Sharpe’s lineup at this year’s NBA Celebrity All-Star Game. He was widely criticized for attempting just one shot and making one block.

While it is very, very unlikely Kai is leaving his multi-million dollar streaming empire to play basketball at the next level, it’s hard to rule something out completely now.
