If Newcastle United are seen as a better base than Real Madrid, then it is clear that the Magpies are on the right track.

The Spanish giants are currently European and Spanish champions and boast a squad full of world-class players.

Newcastle want Josh Acheampong

Newcastle can only aspire to be spoken of with the same reverence as one of the greatest football clubs ever.

However, that doesn’t mean they can’t compete on the pitch and it looks like new technical director Paul Mitchell could secure a win over Los Blancos soon.

According to inews (subscription required), Mitchell is using his magic to convince Chelsea’s brilliant 18-year-old defender, Josh Acheampong, to swap bright London for the north-east of England, rather than the sunnier slopes of Madrid.

More and more players are choosing to play abroad these days. However, given Acheampong’s young age, it would be wise to postpone such a move for a few more years.
