Silver Bullets Podcast: Buckeyes in the NFL, Caleb Downs the running back and more offseason news

A lot has happened on the Ohio State football front this season, and we’ve reconvened to discuss a lot of it. We start this show with a discussion about former Buckeyes in the NFL. Michael Hall Jr. has signed with the Browns and there are new homes for Gareon Conley and Steele Chambers. Which ones are in good situations?

There’s been a lot of talk lately about Caleb Downs taking snaps at running back. Is this a good idea? We talk about the things Chip Kelly said and debate whether a two-way Downs is the way the Buckeyes should go.

Some of the 2024 kickoff times have dropped, and we talk about the Buckeyes opening the season with MACtion against Akron and Western Michigan, as well as why Ohio State might not have many night games. Speaking of the schedule, Grambling has replaced UConn on the 2025 roster. One less than stellar match has taken the place of another.

What’s going on with Billy Fessler becoming an analyst for the Buckeyes? Chip Kelly knows him well, and we think this is a good move that will make Kelly feel more comfortable.

Ohio State commit Tavien St. Clair had a big performance at the Elite 11. We talk about winning the accuracy contest and how his career could unfold in Columbus.

Finally, we’ll review Phil Steele’s preseason All-American teams, including seven Buckeyes on his three squads. We’ll discuss who might have been drafted too high, too low, or outright snubbed. It’s all guesswork, of course, but it makes for some fun discussion.

We’ll continue to check in with you monthly during the college football offseason, with plans to return to our weekly schedule in August 2024. We’d love to hear from you, so please get in touch with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email.
