Justin Timberlake expected to plead guilty to drunk driving

CNN

Justin Timberlake is expected to plead guilty to drunken driving under a plea agreement with Suffolk County, New York, prosecutors, who agreed to drop a drunken driving charge against the singer, a source familiar with the matter said.

The request includes a yet-to-be-determined fine, but the judge in the case can impose other penalties and must approve the agreement at a hearing scheduled for Friday morning, at which Timberlake is expected to attend.

Before the settlement, Timberlake had pleaded not guilty in August to DWI charges, a misdemeanor. If convicted, he could have faced up to a year in prison and a $2,500 fine.

In New York, a blood alcohol content of more than 0.05 is “legal evidence that you are under the influence,” while “a BAC of 0.08 or higher is evidence of intoxication,” according to the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles.

Justin Timberlake was arrested in Sag Harbor, New York in June.

Timberlake was arrested in June in Sag Harbor after police said he left The American Hotel bar shortly after midnight, drove his 2025 BMW down Main Street and failed to stop at a stop sign and stay in his lane. Police said Timberlake also failed a field sobriety test and repeatedly refused to take a breathalyzer test, saying, “No, I don’t do chemical testing.”

During a hearing in late July, Timberlake’s attorney disputed that the artist was intoxicated, arguing he should not have been arrested.

Timberlake has been performing all summer on his Forget Tomorrow Tour, with his next show scheduled for September 28 in New Jersey.
