Kevin De Bruyne speaks out on uncertain Man City future amid Saudi Arabia ties

Kevin De Bruyne’s future at Man City remains uncertain, with the Belgian superstar’s current contract at the Etihad Stadium expiring in 2025, a situation Saudi Arabia is hoping to take advantage of.

Talks are yet to take place over a new contract for the Belgian international. With the midfielder’s future at the Premier League champions uncertain, Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad became interested in the City superstar this summer.

It was even reported that De Bruyne had agreed personal terms with the Saudi club, but with the transfer window closing last week, the midfielder remained at the Etihad Stadium.

The 33-year-old has since addressed the issue, stating that despite his ties with the Saudi Pro League last summer, he did not speak to any club.

“I haven’t spoken to anyone. There has been a lot of noise and news,” the Belgian said via Fabrizio Romano. “I said in the summer that I expected a quiet summer and that’s what happened.

“I went on vacation, came back, started training. That’s it. Nothing else.”

Kevin De Bruyne speaks candidly about his future at Man City

De Bruyne has spent the last nine years at Man City and has developed into a club legend in that time, winning everything with the Manchester club.

The midfielder turns 34 next summer and that will be a factor the Premier League champions take into account when deciding his future.

De Bruyne has admitted he is confident talks over a new contract will take place later in the season, but for now the Belgian star wants to enjoy his football.

“Once the season is underway, I’m sure there will be conversations,” the Man City star said via Fabrizio Romano. “I just want to feel good, play good football and that will happen in the next few months.”

The situation surrounding De Bruyne’s future will be difficult for Man City given his status at the Manchester club, with the 33-year-old set to take a significant pay cut in order to remain at the Etihad Stadium.

The current campaign is expected to be the midfielder’s last at City, with 2025 seeming the perfect time for the duo to end their incredible story together.
