Temperatures cool in Maryland toward end of week

BALTIMORE — Tonight, temperatures will drop to around 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

We are monitoring the possibility of storms developing upstream in Ohio and Pennsylvania. These storms could move into the region after sunset, particularly northern Maryland, and last until midnight.

The front responsible for Wednesday night’s storms will move south of the region on Thursday. As the front remains nearby, there is still a chance of rain Thursday through Friday. The best chance of rain on Thursday will be mainly west of Baltimore and in Northern Virginia.

High temperatures on Thursday will be noticeably cooler, in the low to mid 80s, due to increased cloud cover. On Friday, high temperatures will generally range from the 70s to around 80 degrees, even cooler than Thursday’s highs.

The next significant chance for rain will arrive on Saturday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms likely to develop along with another cold front moving through the region. Slight chances for showers will continue into Sunday, especially across parts of Southern Maryland and the Lower Eastern Shore. This could impact your holiday weekend plans, especially if you’re planning on heading to the beach. The rest of the state, however, should begin to dry out.

Starting with Labor Day, we can expect a period of very pleasant weather that will last most of next week. If you enjoyed the fall-like temperatures last week, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s, you are in for a treat next week.
