Pep Guardiola decision not for now, says Romano

There is little doubt that Pep Guardiola is the best coach of his generation, some even claim he is the best ever.

The current Man City manager has certainly changed the way football is played in England, as has his time in Spain with Barcelona and in Germany with Bayern Munich.

He may not be to everyone’s taste, but he gets results.

Pep Guardiola to stay at Man City for now

For example, if City were to win the Premier League title again, it would be their seventh in eight years. Only Liverpool broke their epic run in 2020, a season in which City finished second.

That’s astonishing consistency, and something never seen before in England’s top flight.

The question for Guardiola is how long he wants to continue before, like former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, he takes a sabbatical or decides to pursue a new challenge.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola may leave the club at the end of the season

Fabio Capello had suggested in the Italian media that Guardiola would leave City at the end of the season, and Fabrizio Romano has provided some further details on the rumours.

“I understand Fabio Capello has hinted that Pep Guardiola could leave Man City next summer,” he told CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing.

“I have no information about this at all guys, it’s not a topic for August. Pep will decide later, not in August or early September.

“Of course I have respect for Fabio Capello, but again, there is no concrete information about Guardiola at the moment, it is all speculation.”

Guardiola needs to be motivated to want to keep going. Only he knows when he feels he has taken the team as far as he can.

He could also decide to leave if there is evidence of alleged misconduct related to the 115 charges the city is currently facing a hearing on.
