Scottish striker Lyndon Dykes is set to make a £1.5million move to ambitious Birmingham City.

The League One side made a bid to sign the Queens Park Rangers forward on Monday night, prompting negotiations over the 28-year-old to gain momentum. He is due to undergo a medical at lunchtime today.

Dykes suffered heartbreak last summer after a training ground injury forced him to miss the European Championship with Scotland.

He has been the subject of interest from Rangers in Scotland, among others, but has been convinced by the project being set up in St Andrews.

Despite relegation from the Championship, Birmingham’s American owners plan to return at the first time of asking and hope to follow the same path to promotion as Ipswich Town.

The Blues signed former Liverpool defender Ben Davies from Rangers earlier this week and are looking to strengthen their squad further before the transfer window closes.

Dykes made one appearance this season when he came on as a substitute and scored the equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United.
