Jelena Ostapenko brings boyfriend to Taste of Tennis event ahead of US Open

The couple mingled with tennis stars and guests and enjoyed exquisite dishes prepared by some of the world’s best chefs. Radiant and with a big smile, Ostapenko enjoyed the evening in the company of her partner.

A year ago, we discussed the muscular, tattooed man who first appeared on Ostapenko’s social media when she posted a heartwarming photo of them in a park in Riga, the capital of Latvia. At the time, the mysterious figure left a red heart emoji in the comments, to which Alona responded with a flood of love emojis. Despite the passage of time, little is known about this man, but it is clear that he has become a long-term partner of the 2017 Roland Garros champion, who now confidently carries him around with him to social events.

The couple posed for photographers on the blue carpet at the Citi Taste of Tennis event. Ostapenko looked chic in a black, short embroidered cotton dress with a round neckline and pleated armholes, paired with flat chypre sandals by Hermes. Her partner complemented her look in casual attire, with white Bermuda shorts, white sneakers and a black Givenchy T-shirt.

The Citi Taste of Tennis event in New York was a lively celebration of the sport’s return to the city, featuring a roster of current players and legends. Attendees enjoyed gourmet food, signature cocktails and danced to the beats of DJ Irie. Hosted by former player and current Tennis Channel commentator Prakash Amritraj, the event also featured performances from tennis stars Caroline Wozniacki, Zheng Qinwen, Alexander Zverev, Andre Agassi, Taylor Fritz and many more.

Looking ahead to the 2024 US Open, 10th-seeded Ostapenko is set for a challenging first-round clash against two-time champion Naomi Osaka, a match that is poised to be one of the tournament’s early highlights. While Osaka triumphed in their only previous meeting at the 2016 French Open, Ostapenko enters this match as a favorite, given her current form compared to the Japanese star’s recent struggles.
