Chelsea striker Armando Broja set for Ipswich loan deal – source

Chelsea striker Armando Broja will join Ipswich Town on loan until the end of the season, a source has told ESPN.

The loan deal includes an obligation to sign the player for a fee of around £30 million ($39.1 million) if Ipswich avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Broja, 22, will bolster Ipswich’s attacking options as they make their first top-flight appearance in 22 years. They lost their opener 2-0 to Liverpool, but Broja could be in the mix for their trip to Manchester City at the weekend.

Chelsea are in the process of reducing their squad to 43 men and Broja is likely to leave before the transfer window closes.

His medical is scheduled for the coming days and if the move goes through he will be competing with the likes of Liam Delap and George Hirst for a place in the Ipswich team.

Broja came through Chelsea’s academy and made 38 first-team appearances. He also spent time on loan at the club, including at Southampton, while he spent the second half of last season at Fulham. He made 23 appearances for Albania, scoring five goals.
