The NFL’s 7 Most Explosive Draft Rosters and Contract Disputes Since 2015 | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats & Rumors

Three seasons later, the Seahawks had another exciting off-season with a star defender.

This time it was safety Earl Thomas. And unlike Chancellor’s mini-saga, it ended in devastating fashion.

Entering the final year of his contract, Thomas asked for an extension to stay. He memorably said “pay me or trade me” prior to the 2018 campaign, and neither happened. Thomas reported to the team, but disaster struck in Week 4 when he broke his right leg.

Though he missed the remainder of the season, Thomas signed a four-year, $55 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens in free agency. That relationship ended badly for a variety of reasons, but the injury certainly didn’t ruin Thomas’ value right away.
