80-year-old man: 80-year-old man on bicycle hit by car, died | Bhopal News

Bhopal: An 80-year-old man died in a road accident on Sunday morning. The man was riding a bicycle when he was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and succumbed shortly afterwards. A case in this regard was later registered at the Bairagarh police station in the city. Police say the owner of the car that hit the elderly man has not yet been identified. The suspect fled in the car after hitting the man. Police said the deceased was identified as Umesh Verma, a resident of the bus stand near Halalpur. He was a retired government official. The older man left home early in the morning to cycle or walk. Police said he was routinely leaving the house and heading towards Bairagarh side when a vehicle coming from Lal Ghati side hit him from behind and was speeding. According to police, the elderly man suffered serious injuries and reportedly died at the scene. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said he would usually cycle till Bairagarh, have tea and then return. The investigation so far has revealed that an employee of the municipal corporation was an eyewitness to the incident. As the investigation progresses, this will become clear.
