5 killed and several injured in road accident in Mathura

In a tragic accident in Mathura on Thursday morning, a pick-up truck lost control and crashed into an electricity pole, killing five passengers, including two girls.

About a dozen others were injured in the incident. All the victims were residents of Het Vidya Heechapur village in Konch police station of Gaya district, Bihar.

Taking note of the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and directed officials to ensure immediate shift of the injured to hospitals and directed the district administration to monitor their proper treatment.

He also wished the injured to recover quickly and directed officials to reach the site to expedite relief efforts.

The accident took place near Nagariya Saat Visa village on Shergarh Road in Kosi Kalan police station area.

In the early hours, workers from Bihar traveled to Hodal in Haryana’s Palwal district to work in a brick kiln.

They had arrived in Aligarh by train before continuing their journey in the pick-up truck.

As the vehicle approached Nagariya Saat Visa village, it went out of control and rammed into an electricity pole.

The impact broke electrical wires and caused them to fall.

In a desperate attempt to escape, the occupants of the pickup jumped out and ran while the driver reversed the vehicle, running over eight to nine people.

The deceased included Gauri Devi (35), wife of Sukendar Majhi; her two-year-old daughter Komal; Kunti Devi (28), wife of Prem Majhi, along with her two-year-old daughter Priyanka; and Mona, wife of Suraj Bhan.

The injured included Kajal (17), Jeera (19), Mana (21) and Gagan Kumar (3).

Following the accident, a crowd gathered at the scene and locals helped transport the injured to the Community Health Center (CHC).

Due to their critical condition, several were referred to the district hospital. The driver fled the scene after the incident.

SP (Rural) Triguna Vishen, CO Ashish Sharma and Superintendent Ajit Singh arrived soon after to collect information about the accident.
