Tensions ran high after the Los Angeles Rams’ 27-24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

On the final play of the game, which nearly resulted in an improbable touchdown for San Francisco, 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk jostled with members of the Rams sideline.

After claiming the top spot in the NFC last season, the 49ers have now lost two of their first three games to start their 2024 season.

The Rams trailed 24-14 midway through the fourth quarter on Sunday, but pulled even with less than two minutes remaining.

Los Angeles managed to get the ball one more time and gave the team its first lead of the day thanks to a decisive field goal by Joshua Karty on the ensuing drive.

Aiyuk hauled in just five of his 10 targets for 48 yards against the Rams, failing to find the end zone. It’s been a slow start to the season for the 26-year-old, with just 119 yards and zero touchdowns in three appearances.

He took a moment to attack San Francisco’s NFC West rival before the game, referring to the 49ers fans who filled SoFi Stadium.

“We love playing there,” Aiyuk told reporters on Wednesday. “We love seeing all that red there, a small home stadium. So we’re excited.”

After collecting 1,342 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023 and then signing a four-year contract contract extension The former first-round pick, valued at $120 million, has underperformed early in the year.

With the 49ers and Rams both trying to get back to the playoffs, there appears to be no love lost between the two teams as they face off again in Week 15.
