Davis was drafted in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played in two games with the Super Bowl champion Buccaneers and was subsequently waived by the Buccaneers and joined the Indianapolis Colts.

Davis played in one game with the Colts in 2021 and then bounced around the NFL and the United States Football League (USFL).

Davis got a shot at the NFL level with the Texans in 2023 and played in a career-high 15 games, securing 32 tackles, six tackles for loss, six quarterback hits and two sacks. This year, Davis played in all nine games, securing nine tackles, four tackles for loss, two quarterback hits and one sack.

Davis was expendable for Houston as he appeared in just 32 percent of defensive snaps this season. Now he’s headed to San Francisco, where he’ll fill a major need at defensive tackle.

The 49ers lost their top defensive tackle Javon Hargrave this season due to a partially torn triceps. They are now adding another big body to strengthen the defense front.

The 49ers have had an unusual start to the 2024 season and injuries have played a major role. The 49ers are just 4-4 into their bye week and have been dealing with injuries on both sides of the ball.

While they didn’t make any significant acquisitions at this year’s deadline, they plan to get star running back Christian McCaffrey back on the field possibly as early as Week 10. McCaffrey has not played this season due to Achilles tendonitis in both legs. but the team officially opened its practice window and he was able to come off injured reserve this week.

While the 49ers’ 2024 season hasn’t gone to plan, they are in the thick of the playoff race and have now added a piece that they believe will help their defense.
