4 Pines opens the Gold Coast flagship with The Sporting Globe

Following the success of their debut brewpub in Sydney, 4 Pines Brewing Company and The Sporting Globe Bar and Grill have teamed up again to open a new flagship location in Surfers Paradise.

Housed in the former Hard Rock Café on the corner of Cavill Avenue and Surfers Paradise Boulevard, the iconic venue has received a $6.5 million facelift, heralding a new era for the popular party district.

Todd Atkinson, CEO of 4 Pines, says: “What’s better than catching up with friends over a beer, with a front row seat to the best live sport? We can’t wait to bring 4 Pines’ freshest brews to our new friends in Surfers Paradise.”

The proposal for the venue was to create a place “where beer and sport come together”, with more than 60 high-definition screens surrounding the venue, including several 5-metre wide screens.2 screens and premium cabin seating with The Sporting Globe’s own BoothTV.

Customers can expect access to live sports from around the world, supported by the ability for individual channel selection, web browsing and game play.

The brewery recently celebrated its 16th anniversarye anniversary, and for Adam Dearing, General Manager of Hospitality at 4 Pines, it is humbling to open a venue of this size in an even more iconic beach location.

“Our collaboration at King Street Wharf, Sydney has been a great success. Working with the crew at The Sporting Globe has been incredible, and customers love the concept of live sports and fresh beer. It was a no-brainer to explore the next opportunity,” he said.

Dearing explained how the Surfers Paradise flagship compares to its Sydney debut: “There will be a lot of similarities. We didn’t have to reinvent the wheel here, but this location is huge.

“This time around, we designed the 4 Pines Brewery to bring guests as close to the action as possible with glass windows and a viewing platform that spirals around the brewery,” he continued.

The brewpub is anchored by a central bar with 80 taps and a rotating selection of 14 strong selections of 4 Pines beers, each steeped, boiled and fermented on site in the ground floor brewery, with approximately 500,000 schooners expected to arrive each year will be poured.

4 Pines’ offering will include its full core range, including Japanese Lager, Pacific Ale and Amber Ale, alongside limited releases created specifically for the Queensland location, such as the current Surfers Lager.

In addition to an impressive beer selection, the central bar features stadium-style screens and wraparound digital screens, transforming the space every night from a family-friendly sports venue to a late-night hotspot with entertainment until 3am.

“If there is live sports on television, you can count on us to show it. We stay up late most nights, and when the games are over we keep the party going with local DJs, sports nights and big live music acts,” said Dearing.

There is a large open-air balcony overlooking the action, and a dedicated private party room is also available for up to 150 guests.

The Sporting Globe is already well established in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia, with a growing presence in Queensland and a portfolio of 20 locations across the country. CEO James Sinclair says the partnership combines the best of local brewing with iconic sports equipment in a blueprint that Aussies know and love.

“The growth of The Sporting Globe has been enormous; this was a natural next play. We are offering a unique experience that represents a major win for the ongoing efforts to revitalize and restore Surfers Paradise as the original and true heart of the Gold Coast,” he said.

Brothers Mark and Brad Virgus, franchisees of The Sporting Globe for the third time, will drive the brewpub’s operations, building on their own involvement with various sporting clubs on the Gold Coast.

Mark said: “We saw a gap in the Gold Coast market for an inclusive, family-friendly sporting venue that would appeal to a broad demographic of customers and become the meeting place to watch, listen, eat, drink and be entertained. .”

“Australia’s love for sport runs deep, and we know the people of Surfers Paradise will find a loud and like-minded heartbeat here at The Sporting Globe,” Brad added.
