Former Denver resident and professional wrestler Charles Bernard Scaggs, also known as 2 Cold Scorpio, was arrested after allegedly stabbing a customer during a fight at a gas station in Missouri where he worked as a security guard.

Scaggs, 58, was arrested June 15 on suspicion of assault after an altercation with a customer at a Love’s Travel Stop in Kansas City, Missouri, according to a statement from the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.

Kansas City police officers responded to the gas station in the city’s northeast part around 3:40 p.m. and found a man bleeding on the ground outside the station and going in and out of consciousness as a witness applied pressure to a wound on his head, according to the report.

The man was taken to hospital and doctors later found cuts to his head and chest and two stab wounds to his stomach and lower back.

According to the report, the man told police he was using the gas station ATM and as he left, Scaggs approached him and made comments about him smoking in the gas station and getting in his face. The man pushed Scaggs away and Scaggs attacked him.

But Scaggs told police the man was smoking in the gas station when Scaggs told him he wasn’t allowed to smoke inside, and at one point put a hand on his back to guide him outside.

The man was aggressive and threatened to kill and hurt Scaggs, Scaggs told police. He got in his face and told him to back off before “grappling” with Scaggs.

Scaggs told investigators that at one point the man’s legs were wrapped around his head, neck and arms and that he stabbed and punched the man to get away from him.

Scaggs is charged with first-degree assault and was released from jail on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 11, according to court records.
