18 taken to hospital after accident involving dump truck, trucks, Latest news from Singapore

Eighteen people were taken to hospital after a crash involving two trucks and a dump truck on the AYE on the morning of July 4.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were notified of the accident at 6.35am on the AYE towards MCE, before the Benoi Road exit.

A video of the aftermath of the crash posted on Facebook shows a dump truck and two trucks behind it in the far right lane of the highway. Some debris can be seen in front of one of the trucks.

A police car, two ambulances and a fire truck can also be seen in the background.

A 43-year-old male truck driver and 17 male passengers from the two trucks, aged between 19 and 47, were taken to hospital in a conscious state, police said.

According to the SCDF, 10 men were taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and the remaining eight men were taken to National University Hospital.

The police investigation is still ongoing.
