15-year-old sentenced to 6 years for stabbing aunt in the head while driving: officials

A Lancaster County teen has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to stabbing his aunt in the head with a knife while she was driving, the Lancaster County district attorney’s office said.

D’Andre Jennings, 15, was sentenced to two and a half to six years in prison on charges of aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime and reckless endangerment.

On Feb. 2, Jennings struck the victim in the back of the head with a knife as she drove along Susquehannock Drive, police said. Documents show the attack caused the driver to drive into oncoming traffic before safely stopping the vehicle.

The victim suffered a large laceration to the back of her head, but was able to survive, the prosecutor said. The victim stated she had no idea why she was stabbed.

Officials report Jennings told investigators he fell asleep in the vehicle and had a panic attack before the attack. Jennings told investigators he blacked out and woke up to the victim screaming.

Jennings then threw the knife into nearby woods and tried to run away before being arrested by Pennsylvania State Police, police said.

Jennings awaits a preliminary hearing scheduled for February 12, 2025, while incarcerated at the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center.
