13-year-old arrested for violent sledgehammer attack in Baltimore

BALTIMORE – A 13-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with an aggravated assault involving a wiper in Baltimore’s Western District, Baltimore police announced. The incident occurred near the 500 block of North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

According to police, officers responded to the scene at approximately 10:25 a.m. on October 29, where they found a 51-year-old man with injuries to his neck and face. Authorities said the juvenile suspect allegedly attacked the man while he was in his vehicle, using a hand wiper as a weapon.

Police quickly distributed a description of the suspect to officers in the area, prompting a rapid search of the area. Officers located the 13-year-old suspect a short distance away in the 900 block of Myrtle Avenue, where he was taken into custody without incident.

According to police, the minor was then transferred to the Juvenile Justice Department for treatment and detention. No further details have been released about the victim’s condition or the specific circumstances of the attack.
