Nico Williams has confirmed he will not leave Athletic Club this summer despite his close ties to Barcelona.

Williams shone in Spain’s victory at Euro 2024 this summer, scoring twice during the tournament, including the opening goal against England in the final.

The 22-year-old’s great performances have sparked many transfer rumours, with Barcelona reportedly the club most interested in his signature.

But on Tuesday, Athletic posted a video on social media in which Williams confirmed he will stay where he is for the time being.

Williams came through the San Mamés youth system and has made 122 appearances for the club to date, scoring 46 goals and helping the club win the Copa del Rey last season.
